In this paper, a conditional trimmed mean (CTM) filter and its modification, called enhanced conditional trimmed mean (ECTM) filter are proposed. Their implications do not require to sort the windowed data and the influence of an incorrect reference point on the output of the filter is reduced by using a conditional test. The extension of CTM filters to the two dimensional domain is also developed. Simulations show that the proposed filters perform better in noise removal as well as in fine structure preservation.
