The French food safety agency, the Anses, has imposed new restrictions on the use of the herbicide, prosulfocarb, in the nation starting November 1 this year. They include the reduction by at least 40% in the maximum authorised application rate of the active ingredient, mandatory use of agricultural equipment such as nozzles during application to enable an up to 90% reduction in spray drift, and maintenance of a buffer zone of 10 m from residential areas.
