摘要

Seriplane deals with quality characteristics like percentage of evenness, cleanness and neatness of raw silk, which in turn determines the degree of evenness, kind and number of cleanness defects and neatness defects. Defects in raw silk are waste, slugs, bad casts, knots, corkscrews, loops and loose ends. Lesser the number of defects better will be the quality of silk yarn which in turn depicts about the weaving, quality and ultimately the final look of the product as well as price will be enhanced. Much research work being carried out to improve the quality of the silk. Extrafoliation (Mixing or dusting of Mulberry leaves with other leaves extract) is one of them. Mulberry silk as it is extensively grown in India an attempt was made to extrafoliate the Mulberry leaves with common weeds namely Parthenium hysterophorus, Tridax procumbens and Lantana camera to observe their effects on silk yarn property such as eveness, cleanness and neatness (seriplane).
