AIthough many revenue managers lament how far hotels have to go to catch the airlines in terms of revenue management and data mining capabilities, hotel systems nevertheless remain substantially ahead of the technology available to the private club sector. The field of club management systems is largely dominated by legacy systems like those from Ontario-based Jonas Software and its sister company, Pennsylvania-based clubsystems group. The platforms from those dominant market leaders may be adequate for the fundamental basics of property management-accounting functionality, invoicing, etc.-but they largely lack more complex business intelligence tools that might alert club managers when a member's participatory behavior is showing telltale signs of waning interest.
