While a cold wintry wind blew through Florence on January 12-15, there was a warm atmosphere within the walls of the Fortezza da Basso, where the 67th Pitti Immagine Uomo menswear show welcomed nearly 28,000 international buyers and trade visitors. According to the organisers this was 1,800 more than at the January 2004 show, recording a rise of 6% among Italian visitors, and 9% among overseas visitors, who make up over 35% of the total. The organisers expressed pleasure that their reorganisation of marketing and communication efforts had brought good results; it signified that the Italian garment industry was back on track again. They also attributed their success to the fair's this season opening a day earlier, running from Wednesday to Saturday. Germany sent the most visitors, fol-lowed by Japan, Britain, Spain, Holland, Greece, France, Turkey, Korea, China, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Russia, as well as East European countries. China and Russia saw the largest increase of visitors, up 59% and 35% respectively.
