Despite the gloomy economic environment for the textile trade and the uncertainty of the international political situation with the threat of war on Iraq, creative and inspirational fabrics at the Premiere Vision European fabric fair held in Paris' Villepinte ― Parc des Expositions in February did their best to lift the spirit. But the mood was one of caution, at both PV and Texworld, the competing non-European fabrics fair across town in Paris. While PV recorded 31,397 visitors from within the EU and elsewhere, nearly 4% less than in February 2002, Texworld organisers said their numbers increased by 9.6% to 12,440, though some exhibitors said they didn't see as many customers as in previous seasons.
