Like it or not, if you have a carbureted Lycoming engine (as well as other models), chances are your engine's fuel supply is dependent on a thumping sheet of rubber ensconced in a nearly inaccessible aluminum housing on the back of the engine. The AC fuel pump has been with us for over 50 years, and despite its seemingly archaic design, it's been doing yeoman service with few complaints. This pump design certainly would look at home in an old Chevy pickup truck before the advent of fuel injection.
