It can be concluded on the basis of all above reported results that the chemical (formic acid) can be used on silk printed with procion dye to increase the colour depth and colour fastness of the printed material with both the gums. Higher concentration of the chemical agent i.e., 75% formic acid was found more effective in the study. The chemical treatment did not cause any significant negative effect on fabric properties. Hence the results of the study could be effectively used to satisfy a modern customer who wants deeper, sharper, brighter, faster, more novel and attractive prints at relatively low cost.
