Global information systems, in particular the World Wide Web, have enjoyed phenomenal growth in recent years. Together with the increase in information accessible to users comes the need for mechanisms to ameliorate the resulting information load. Technologies that accomplish this include filtering techniques, recommender systems, or hypermedia structuring mechanisms, to name just a few. Open hypermedia systems~(1,2) provide mechanisms for personalizing and adapting the view of the content of meet individual needs. They do this by considering context information while also offering fundamental hypermedia functionality across multiple desktop applications.
