摘要

Ring and rotor yarns were spun from viscose rayon fibres using a range of almost identical twist factors. From the results obtained it is clear that in addition to the influence of twist, machine design also has influence on the properties of the respective yarns. Slight changes in twist level influence yarn strength more than yarn breaking extension. Uniformity and linear density of the ring-spun yarns are appreciably influenced by twist level, whereas the rotor-spun yarn is relatively unaffected. Yarn fault and imperfections tend to increase with twist and it is evident that ring-spun yarn displays superiority in terms of strength compared to its rotor-spun equivalent. The coefficient of twist variation in rotor-spun yarns is shown to be higher than the equivalent ring-spun.
