Global Cement (GC): How did the US cement sector perform in 2021? Ed Sullivan (ES): The overall picture for the US cement sector was very good in 2021, with sales rising by 4.1% year-on-year to around 106Mt. This represents the 12th year of unbroken growth after the Great Recession, although we are still well below the 125Mt peak seen in 2005. The 2021 performance was actually better than we forecast, which was mainly due to favourable weather in the fourth quarter. 2021 was the second year in succession that we saw that trend.
