Continuing the series of occasional features, started last August by Roger Dettmer's 'Backup Bungle', Dennis Hooker, CEng MIET and honorary treasurer for Kent, shares some of his desktop fears and headaches FROM THE START of my tenure as a treasurer, I have used PCs for my accounting activities. All have given me good service, although two laptops gave me a few headaches, as recounted below. In late 1998, some fellow committee members persuaded me to get connected to the Internet, so that I could then experience the joys of receiving emails from them. By then, a laptop was an essential part of one's PC portfolio, and one look at my existing kit confirmed that in no way would it support Internet access. So I purchased a new laptop in, of all places, Tesco.
