This study specially mentions the wool quality and handloom wool shawls work and uniqueness shawl construction in ladakh region. Since centuries, the handicraft industry is running successfully in beautiful valley of ladakh. Among handicrafts, shawl industry has gained popularity all over the world for the way these shawls are being prepared. Shawl making in ladakh is an age old practice over which the artisans have expertise themselves over generations. From ages, wool shawls are being prepared in the valley by traditional methods. In the study woven shawls were prepared from 100 % wool yarns on handloom. The influence of 275 to 375 GSM and thickness were studied with respect to its thermal properties like thermal resistance, thermal conductivity and thermal absorptivity. Wool shawls huckaback structure played a highly significant role for all thermal properties like thermal resistance, thermal absorptivity. Thermal absorptivity and thermal resistance were highly influenced by wool shawls huckaback structure.
