The USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS) has published a report, “Concentration and Competition in US Agribusiness”, highlighting that around 55% of the nation’s harvested farmland in 2020 was grown with varieties containing at least one genetically modified trait. The calculation takes into account the period from 1994-2020, and includes all field crops, as well as sugar cane, hay, tobacco and commercial vegetables, besides fruit and nut trees.
