There is great potential for governments, industry and academia to work together to accelerate the path towards hydrogen in aviation, greatly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Hydrogen fuel cells are emerging at a rapid pace as the real replacement for multiple aviation applications and offer advantages over existing powertrain technologies, such as piston and gas turbines, as well as battery-electric and hybrid-electric propulsion.
