Today's press controls offer a building-block approach to customizaiton. Through quick-fit modules, they handle any number of automation accessories and they interface and communicate seamlessly to plantwide networks. To boost productivity and efficiency, metalformers everywhere have automated as much as possible, and continue to do so. They've added robots, from pick-and-place units to high-end six-axis units, and stackers, chutes and other equipment to move parts into and out of presses. When trying to place all of this equipment in the bands of one operator, integrating complete automated-press-cell control into one easy-to-navigate control becomes a necessity. And, in recent years, control manufacturers have done just that.
