At LAX, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the renovated Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) permitted excellent views of G-XLEA, the 95th A380 produced, and BA's initial aircraft of 12. The A380s will replace many of BA's Boeing 747-400s. To celebrate the occasion, numerous movie star look-alike characters were available for photos in front of a special 'HOLLYWOOD' sign, and prizes, including A380 models, were given to select passengers. Champagne and canapes passed around at the gate contributed to the festive spirit. When boarding began it was apparent that many passengers knew this was a momentous occasion. Three jetbridges were used to facilitate the process, with two downstairs and one for the upper deck.
