A TFHBM layer is a polarization-selective transmitter of circularly polarized plane waves, while a CTF half-wave plate inverts the handedness of circularly polarized plane waves. We have combined them into an all-thin-film device that can operate as a polarization-discriminatory handedness-inverter, and whose discriminatory attributes reverse if the entry and the exit pupils are interchanged. Thus, we have established the viability of STF technology for producing optical-systems-in-a-chip.
