Nexans has won a contract from Enel Green Power for 1595 km of electrical cables for the Finis Terrae Extension photovoltaic project in Chile, which it said represented an important step in promoting the transition to renewable energy. A press release said that the cables will be used for the interconnection of the solar panels. "The greatest benefit for the customer is to obtain a cable specially designed for the application with a fast-track delivery time," said Nexans Commercial Manager Miguel Fernandez. The Finis Terrae project is located in Antofagasta, a port city and regional capital in a mining area in northern Chile's Atacama Desert. The main contractor for the project is GES, which has a considerable presence located in the Antofagasta region.
