Boeing 747-212B MSN 21162 was the 283rd 747 off the production line at Everett, Washington, built with Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7) turbofans against an order from Singapore Airlines. It made its first flight on March 19, 1976, and was delivered on March 30, registered 9V-SQE. For the next seven years the 747 flew long-haul routes for the Southeast Asian carrier.
