摘要

The need for healthcare workers is expected to rise at rates much higher than average through at least 2026, creating many job opportunities for students entering the health professions (Gateley, 2021). This has led to many new and expanding health professions education programs, and a lack of qualified faculty to teach within them (Gateley, 2021). For aspiring faculty members, this means that opportunities to become educators may be plentiful, but many will face a paucity of support, mentorship, and guidance on how to pursue, obtain, and succeed in an academic role. The recently published text, Clinical Practice to Academia: A Guide for New and Aspiring Health Professions Faculty, by author Crystal Gateley (2021), aims to prevent that by providing comprehensive information related to making the transition from practice to academia.
