In collaboration with the Peptide Research Group, AB KABI, we have developed a simple electric method for the measurement of the activity of serine proteases. The method is based on a synthetic polypeptide, which in solution adsorbs on metal surfaces. The desorption rate of the polypeptide on the introduction of serine proteases is a measure of their enzymatic activity. The desorption rate is measured as a capacitance change between two metal electrodes.
