Natural dyes are a nontoxic alternative to conventionally used synthetic dyes that cause irreversible damage to the planet. In this study, the possibilities of extracting dye from the bark of Averrhoa bilimbi Linn are considered. The extracted dye was characterised by phytochemical analysis, FTIR (Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy), UV -visible analysis and Thermo gravimetric analysis. A spectrophotometer with a colour lab system was used to measure the K/s value of the dyed fabric. The results indicate that an alkaline medium functioned effectively as a solvent for dye extraction at 100 ℃ for 45 minutes with a 5 % source concentration. According to this study, the dye extract from the bark of Averrhoa bilimbi Linn can be used as a textile dye.
