AbstractAmperometric L‐lactate bioelectrodes based on carbon paste chemically modified with yeast Hansenula anomala and mediators are described. The bioelectrodes acted over a potential range at 0.05 – 0.3 V (vs SCE), the sensitivity was 14 – 116 μM−1cm−2and optimum pH was at 7.6 – 7.7. The apparent Michaelis constant for the calibration curves of bioelectrodes was different for mediators and varied in the range from 1.3 to 18.9 mM of L‐lactate. The bioelectrode was insensitive to glucose and ethanol. The bioelectrode's response to ascorbic acid was 1.4% at the normal physiological level of vitamin C and L‐lactate in blood.
