摘要

The pandemic status of KPC-type carbapenemases has been linked especially to IncF, IncN, IncX, IncA/C, IncP, IncL/M, and IncR plasmids associated with the mobile element Tn4401, which have rapidly disseminated among international clones of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella complex (1, 2). Using a genomic approach, we here report the emergence of a carbapenem-resistant Salmonella enterica serovar Javiana strain producing KPC-2, highlighting the expansion of the IncQI/NTE_(KPC)-IId plasmid to an invasive WHO critical priority enteropathogen. During the Grand Challenges Explorations-Brazil: New Approaches to Characterize the Global Burden of Antimicrobial Resistance, we characterize a carbapenem-resistant Salmonella sp. (strain J33) isolated from a bloodstream infection of a 76-year-old inpatient. Bacterial identification and antimicrobial susceptibility were performed by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF/MS) and the disc diffusion method, respectively. The J33 strain exhibited resistance to gentamicin, cephamy-cin, aztreonam, broad-spectrum cephalosporins, beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitors, and carba-penems; it remained susceptible to fluoroquinolones, tetracycline, and chloramphenicol.
