Aided by mostly favorable weather conditions, Sun 'n Fun (SnF) took place in April with a record-breaking crowd at the expansive campus on the south side of the Lakeland Linder airport in central Florida. Heavy seaplanes were well represented with a Grumman Mallard and Albatross and a Consolidated PBY in attendance. Sales were strong, and the Sun 'n Fun Seabirds hosted 25 amphibious seaplanes and 60 guests for the traditional night-show dinner with live steel drum entertainment, beer provided by SPA, and a BBQ dinner. SPA Board Member John "Lites" Leenhouts retired at the conclusion of SnF 2022, ending an 11-year stint as the event's President and CEO. Lites recognized SPA Members Bob and Susan Highley for their 48 years of service with SnF, literally working with the event since its inception.
