Seoul-GS Cal-tex is studying the potential modification of some of its gasoline refining lines into facilities to refine basic petrochemical products, such as ethylene and propylene, according to industry sources. GS Caltex has been in talks with Chevron, majority shareholder in GS Caltex, about the potential conversion, which is expected to offset an expected drop in oil consumption due to the transition from combustion to electric vehicles.
