Ordered porous hydroxyapatite (HA) doped with 1 mol % Zn, 1 mol % Mg, and 1 mol % Zn and Mg were prepared by colloidal crystal template method. Effects of different element doping on the morphology and phase of the ordered porous HA and the amoxicillin loading and release properties were investigated. The results showed that compared with the pure phase HA, the morphology of the ordered porous HA doped with different elements had different degrees of defects and the crystallinity decreased. The second phase beta-TCP appeared after doping 1 mol % Zn. The amoxicillin loading was improved by the ordered porous HA doped with different elements. Especially, the amoxicillin loading of 1 mol % Zn doped ordered porous HA was 101.46 mg/g, which was significantly higher than 65.5 mg/g of the pure ordered porous HA. 1 mol % Mg doped and 1 mol % Zn-Mg co-doped had no significant effect on the amoxicillin release rate, but 1 mol % Zn doped ordered porous HA significantly improved the amoxicillin release rate.
