The Coal Authority has appointed new contractors onto its latest four-year framework to design and build mine-water treatment schemes throughout the UK to remove toxic metals such as zinc and arsenic from water bodies. The new framework, worth up to ￡72m, covers all major civil engineering works needed to get treatment sites ready for the construction of new schemes to clear up river pollution caused by historic mines.
