Cairo— Fertiglobe, a subsidiary of OCI, in a consortium with Scatec, Orascom Construction and The Sovereign Fund of Egypt, has commissioned the first phase of its green hydrogen and ammonia project in Ain Sokhna, Egypt (PCN, 25 Oct 2021, p 4). The project, named Egypt Green, is the "first" integrated green hydrogen plant in Africa, Fertiglobe noted. It will ultimately include a 100-megawatt electrolyzer capable of producing 12,000 t/y of green hydrogen for the production of up to 90,000 t/y of green ammonia in 2024.
