Kazakhstan will end gas exports by 2025 because of rising domestic demand, energy minister Bolat Akchulakov says. Kazakh gas consumption rose by nearly 35pc to 18.6bn m3 in the four years to 2021, but production growth is not keeping pace with demand on domestic and export markets, according to the energy ministry. Kazakhstan’s “price cap policy… is hindering gas industry development", prices “do not cover the cost of gas production", according to Akchulakov.
