IT WAS FLIGHT KE631, Seoul (ICN) to Cebu City (CEB), on October 23, 2022. The Korean Air (KE) Airbus A330-300 went around at a low height twice, following approaches to CEB's runway 22. It then climbed back to 5,000ft, entered a hold, and landed about 55 minutes after the first go-around and about 42 after the second. The aircraft crossed the runway at about 80kt over the ground and stopped about 1,200ft (360m) past the runway end, close to the airport perimeter fence. No injuries were reported among the 162 passengers and 11 crew, but the aircraft suffered damage after breaking through the localizer antenna: collapsed landing gear, extensive damage to the nose underbelly, and penetrations to the cockpit.
