When owner-developer Rockefeller Group sought to reinvent Manhattan's iconic Time & Life Building, it turned to architect Pei Cobb Freed & Partners to transform the 1959 tower. Facade replacement was the most significant component, with an inversion of the relationship of vision glass to spandrel glass increasing daylighting by more than 50%. As a result, the building quickly moved from vacant to 99% leased-even before construction was complete.
