Results are presented from studying the electrokinetic properties of non-aqueous suspensions with different concentrations of weakly aggregated nanoparticles based on aluminum oxide with a metal component obtained via the electric explosion of a wire (EEW) of Al–Mg alloy. The dependence of the zeta potential on the concentration of a suspension based on aluminum oxide nanoparticles, which is due to the collective effect of the overlap of the solvate shells of nanoparticles, is established for the first time. The emergence of bubbles in electrophoretic deposits from non-aqueous suspensions based on aluminum oxide nanoparticles with a metal component is established. The effect of processing a suspension is studied and possible mechanisms of electrophoretic deposition (EPD) are proposed to explain detected features of the morphology of the deposited layers.
