The path to sustainable aviation is a long and winding one, with challenges and detours along the way. Setting the final industry destination of net-zero emissions by 2050, however, has seen a recent acceleration of pace and progress along that path. Extensive cross-industry technology research and development projects are under way involving original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, airlines and research organisations, while a new generation of technology companies has emerged to help aviation reach its destination. One such new generation technology company, ZeroAvia, has amassed commitments and partnerships around the world for its hydrogen-electric solution. As this issue closed for press, it hoped to launch the flight test programme of its solution on a modified Dornier 228 turboprop.
