Although overall capacity from and within South Africa remained down by a third during the fourth quarter of 2022, compared with 2019, Cape Town (CPT) is bucking the trend.Strong international recovery has helped to offset the domestic turmoil, with the number of seats expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels during the northern winter 2022/23 season. The city has enjoyed intercontinental success with Delta Air Lines and United Airlines launching routes from Atlanta (ATL) and Washington Dulles (IAD), respectively."Four years ago, we had no connectivity to the US-now we are pleased to say that are connected to three destinations and will have 13 flights per week from mid-December," said Paul van den Brink, aviation liaison at Cape Town Air Access, the route development project that won the Destination category at the Routes Awards 2022 in Las Vegas.
