RUSSIA will have a shortfall of 70 product tankers and 105 crude tankers if it wants to put together a dedicated fleet that could export oil from its ports in defiance of European sanctions and an accompanying oil price cap, according to an analysis by shipbroker Braemar. About 100 medium range and handysize tankers and about 30 long range tankers were needed to cover 900,000 barrels per day of refined products exports, assuming volumes remain unchanged when European sanctions begin on February 5, Braemar data showed.
