Hanson UK has joined forces with a consortium that aims to create a low-carbon industrial cluster. The HyNet North West consortium proposes to develop a hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS) project that Hanson says will reduce the CO_2 emissions of its Padeswood plant in Flintshire by 800,000 tonnes each year. HyNet North West covers a region stretching from Flintshire and Wrexham, through Cheshire, Liverpool and Greater Manchester into Lancashire.
