North American P-51 Mustangs marked in the distinctive colours of the Duxford-based 78th Fighter Group's (FG) 84th Fighter Squadron (FS) are not an uncommon sight in Europe. Big Beautiful Doll, Contrary Mary and Twilight Tear all boasted the unit's famous black-and-white checkerboards on their noses.
