Sales of the Lenzing Group increased in 2005 by 8.2% to ?942.6 million. EBIT at ?81.8 million was below the 2004 record figure of ? 104.3 million. Fibre business expansion in 2005 was generated by organic growth (60%) and by consolidation effects (40%) resulting from the acquisition of the Tencel Group in 2004. Lenzing increased production in its cellulose fibre core business by 9.5% to about 454,000 tons. Thus Lenzing fibre production in 2005 grew twice as fast as the global viscose staple fibre market at only 4%. Growth of the Group continues strong, say Lenzing, as indicated by the production increase of 54% since 1999.
