Warwickshire County Council has approved an extension to Kingsbury quarry to provide brick-making material and has agreed to extend the end-date for the site's restoration. The quarry, three kilometres south of Tamworth, produced high-quality Etruria marl clay and sandstone, which was used in the adjoining Kingsbury brickworks to produce blue brick products, including facing bricks, engineering bricks and pavers. The extension would allow the quarry to continue supplying the brickworks, the last in Warwickshire.
