The plan will call for renewable hydrogen production to be at 0.5-1MM mt/y by 2024 with 4 gigawatts (GW) in renewable hydrogen electrolyzer capacity installed. While the plan will increase renewable hydrogen production to 5-10MM mt/y and renewable hydrogen electrolyzer capacity to increase to 40 GW by 2040, low-carbon and fossil fuel-based hydrogen production will likely be needed in the meantime.
