Labour-saving robots and powerful LEDs dominated the new developments at this year’s GreenTech writes Steven Vale who rounds up some of the highlights of this popular Dutch show. Flagged up as a machine to cut labour costs by at least half, the DiploC100 high-wire cucumber de-leafing robot developed by Dutch firm Leenzeel takes its name from the Diplodocus, the largest plant eating dinosaur.Taking around three years to develop, the 450kg vehicle runs on the heating pipes (spacing from 40cm-80cm). In operation, leaves within a 50cm range of the cucumber picking area are sucked into the machine through two vertical rollers.
