Rhondda Cynon Taf Council resolved on 9 July to refuse permission for an extension to Craig Yr Hesg quarry, Pontypridd, because a 200-metre buffer zone could not be achieved between the quarry and nearby sensitive development. Councillors decided the applicant had not provided sufficient justification for any reduction in the 200-metre buffer and, therefore, the application was contrary to Welsh national guidance in Minerals Technical Advice Note 1: Aggregates.
