Summer is the season for nostalgia. Lakeside afternoons, cross-country road trips, backyard campouts, bicycle rides and ice-cream cones. Fireflies glowing inside mason jars. Here at LD+A, we like a little nostalgia. So, this summer we asked torn lighting designers to get sen-timental, and reflect on either their first or favorite projects. We asked them to share with us their roller coaster they waited on line to ride for a half hour projects, their best macaroni salad at the picnic projects, their first kiss under the stars projects. We wanted to know why these projects were magical, and why designing them left lasting impres-sions. Here's what they had to say: My favorite project is the Chicago Riverwalk. I worked on this project from 2011 to 2016. The transformation of the Riverwalk from a marshy stream to a first-class recreational amenity is something to be very proud of, and it's a project locals and visitors alike get to enjoy.
