Sound absorbing materials absorb most of the sound energy and reflect very little, striking them. Therefore, sound-absorbing materials have been found to be very useful for the control of noise. Non-woven, as it's a web structure can absorb more sound waves than other fabric structure. In this work, thermal bonded nonwoven fabric samples were produced from solid polyester fibres with different denier blended with hollow polyester fibres. For bonding of internal structure low melt polypropylene fibres were used. This paper describes, effect of variables viz. fibre fineness, percentage of hollow fibres and GSM of fabric on sound absorption. In that noted that, the sound absorption of nonwovens is affected more by fineness of fiber in comparison with the percentage of hollow fibers, since fine fibres can create more tortuous path which in turn increases the flow resistivity.
