Spread spectrum techniques have been implemented in laser remote sensing systems in order to solve the crosstalk problem. The performances of chaotic pulse position modulation (CPPM) as well as orthogonal codes modulation have been compared using correlation analysis and detection probability estimations. Characteristics, such as power efficiency and noise robustness, also have been emphasized. In addition, the experimental results of anticrosstalk and multiple-input multiple-output capabilities of the CPPM have been shown. The results show that the CPPM modulation exhibits excellent performance.
