On November 1, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) became the first emergency service to go 100 per cent "cloud based” with its new mobilising system, which is connected to the Emergency Services Network (ESN) for live service. The project delivered an ESN DNSP and a managed firewall, using Motorola's cloud-based 3CRS (Command Central Control) with 3TC CAD, and linking to mobile data terminals fitted with ESN Connect SIM cards, which connected devices to the ESN data service. Using ESN on the MDTs is also a first for Airbus with ESN as a service provider. BFRS is effectively using ESN for live services supporting frontline staff in both control and on the fireground. The groundwork that has taken place now has ensured BFRS is well prepared for full ESN implementation, as a lot of the pre-requisite "plumbing" has already taken place.
