A relatively largeLeptogium‐like lichen overgrowing mosses in wet paramos has been discovered in the northern Andes and Costa Rica. It has, however, a green photobiont and basidiomycete hyphae. No fruitbodies have been observed, only asexual reproduction by fragmentation of the fragile thallus and by goniocysts formed on the ecorticate lower surface.
