Melon has inaugurated a new 0.25Mt/yr grinding plant in Punta Arenas. The project, at the heart of which is a Cemengal Plug&Grind Xtreme grinding unit, had an investment of US$45m, according to local press. The company expects the plant's output to reach 80,000t in its first year of operation. It is the first cement plant in Chile's Magallanes Region and, at 53° south, the most southerly in the world.
